Sony Open Round 1 Recap

Well the season is here. The Sony Open started yesterday with the first full field of the 2010 season.

Six players are tied for first after shooting a 5 under 65 to start the tournament. Ryan Palmer, Zach Johnson, Davis Love III, Troy Merritt, Robert Allenby and John Merrick all had a great first day at the Sony Open. These players can not breath because 10 players are sitting only one stroke back at 4 under.


Troy Merritt a rookie on the tour and starting his first event ever looked great. Merritt one of 20 rookies on the tour this year is looking to make a big impact on the tour.

John Daly shot a 3 over 73 in his first round. Daly looking great didn't fair well on the course and is in a fight to make the cut.

Rickie Flower another rookie who has got all the media coverage so far this season struggled in his first round shooting a 75.

Geoff Ogilvy wins the SBS Championship

Geoff Ogilvy shot a final round 67 to hold of Rory Sabbatini by one shot and win the first event on the 2010 PGA Tour schedule.

Ogilvy finished with a score of 22 under par in winning the SBS Championship for the second straight year.


Sabbatini had the round of the tournament shooting a 63 to move up 10 slots to 2nd place.

Lucas Glover who lead from the get go fell apart on the final day shotting the worst round of the tournament a 3 over 76 to finish in a tie for 14th.

Matt Kuchar finished third while Sean O'Hair finished in fourth with Martin Laird.

With the win Oglivy moves into the Top 10 of the World Golf Rankings.

The season first full event will be next weekend with the Sony Open.

Glover shot a 2 under 71 to hold a one shot lead on Geoff Oglivy. Oglivy moved into contention after posting a 5 under 68 on the day.

Geoff Ogilvy, Martin Laird, Ryan Moore and Stewart Cink are the only players to have shot in the 60's for all three rounds
