Martin Kaymer and Ian Poulter put on a great battle for the title. Kaymer birdied the 18th hole to beat Poulter for his second Abu Dhabi Championship in the last three years.

Both Kaymer and Poulter shot final rounds 66 while third place finisher Rory Mcilroy fird a 67 to finish 2 shots back. Shane Lowry also fired a 67 and finished 4 strokes off the pace in fourth place.


Louis Oosthuizen finished in fifth after shooting a final round 66 to finish at 16 under par.

Argentina’s Ariel Canete posted the best final round as an eight under par 64 secured sixth alongside Wales’ Rhys Davies (67), with Danish duo Anders Hansen (67) and Søren Hansen (67) rounding out the top ten tied for eighth six shots adrift

In the Race to Duabi standings Charl Schwartzel remained at the top while Martin Kaymer is 2nd followed by Pablo Martin, Anders Hansen and Ian Poulter. Richie Ramsay is sixth with Keith Horne in seventh followed by Shiv Kapur, Thomas Aiken and Darren Clarke rounding out the top 10.

Martin Kaymer grabs a one shot lead.

Martin Kaymer grabed a one shot lead over Ian Poulter and Rory Mcilroy after the third round of the Abu Dhabi Championship.

All three of the golfers shot rounds of 67 to pass second round leader Rick Kulacz who fired a third round 73.


Peter Hanson sits in fourth place at 13 under par. Hanson is 2 shots behind Kaymer.

Six players shot rounds of 67 for the low rounds of the day.

Rick Kulacz shoots a second round 63 to grab a one stroke lead over Sergio Garcia, Peter Hanson and Shane Lowry.

The first round leaders all stuggled on day two with Ian Poulter firing a 70 to be three storkes behind. Keith Horne fired a 72 and is five strokes back while Richard Bland fired a 74 and is seven strokes behind.

Lee Westwood the number four ranked player in the world stuggled with a second round 78 and missed the cut at three over par. The cut was set a 2 under and other notable players who have missed the weekend play are Miguel Angel Jimenez, Oliver Wilson, Richie Ramsay and Graeme McDowell.

74 golfers made it to the weekend in the first major like field on the European Tour this season.
